I want to bring your attention to the greatest unknown American songwriter today (unknown, unless you’re in the Northeast, where I’m not, having discovered him years ago on the Internet through, I’m not sure, GarageBand.com or IUMA.com, or something) Martin England. Google his name to find a few places with his MP3s, he’s also on Spotify, Facebook and YouTube, where his videos are of rather poor sonic quality, but you’ve got to hear this one after hearing the studio version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvzvNfqlpH4.

Warning, he’s an acquired taste and takes some getting used to. Also, on his website look up lyrics to song “Park Bench”. Brilliant, in my opinion.

All his songs tend to have delicate melodies and interesting structures - he’s pushes the envelope.

Thanks a lot. I will take a listen. In 2 weeks Jim Webb is coming to Nacodoches. He has always been someone I appreciated. I know a lot of musicians don't care for his style, but his writing and musical transitions remain interesting to me after 40 years.

I just finished a little piece last night. Like Marvin Hamlisch said when asked what was his favorite song that he ever wrote. He mused for a moment, and said, "My last song." That is the way it goes, so it seems.
