BTW, Romney’s own claim that he was paying barely more than 13% demonstrates that he was paying taxes at an inordinately low rate ~ much lower than my own ~ certainly much too low for the kind of income he claimed to have.
so WHO CARE about this sorry attempt to avoid talking the real issues outside of Leftists TROLLS?????
Hold the phone, there, muawiyah. The 13% rate claimed by Romney isn’t so far off, nothing that the largest portion of his income likely comes from dividend and LT capital gains, which are taxed at different rates than the meager incomes of “we the people”.
That 13% is probably pretty well correct. And, it seems the IRS doesn’t have any issue with his returns, to this point.
Yes, the 13% number is lower than my effective tax rate, too. But, it’s not accurate to demonize the Romney’s due to the source of the income.
If Romney’s deductions were legal he was only doing what every other taxpayer tries to do: minimize his tax liability.
Most of his income was paid as capital gains, which is 15%. Also,he probably tithes, so that could lower the rate to 13.9%. I pay about the same rate for the same reasons, so his statement is very believable to me.
I would suspect that Romney made the decision at least 6 or 7 years ago to consider running for President. I am sure his tax returns for at least that period of time are squeaky clean. Only a fool would not make sure that there were no skeletons in that particular closet. He may have had what most of us would probably consider a lot of income, but it may not have been taxable. Romney may be a lot of things but IMO he’s no fool.
Yeah, if he’s not going to release his tax returns anyway, he should claim he’s been paying 28%.
