NRO ^

On Sunday, the 2012 Summer Olympic Games came to a close. London’s spectacle was successful, even if marred at times by scandal and excessive political correctness. The end of the games may bring calm to London traffic, but the closing ceremony was simply the starting whistle for the final leg of another race: The competition to host the 2020 games.

How about Chicago?

Then we can see a repeat of the Obama trip to Copenhagen to lobby for Chicago.

We can again see Oprah Winfrey say that Obama is the captain of the team as they jet off to Copenhagen.

We can see Michelle Obama tell us all that their strategy is “take no prisoners” as they lobby for Chicago.

And we can all dream of how the South Side would benefit from the Olympics as the youth gangs are driven out.....................

I can remember when the "official conservative position" was pro-Turkish and anti-Greek/Armenian. Even the Turkish invasion of Cyprus was justified in order to save the Turkish Cypriot population from Commie Greeks.

Of course, this was about the same time the "official conservative position" was to support the Arabs against Israel.

I just thought of something: do you suppose any Arab/moslem host nation would allow the Israelis to participate?

There is another thread about how Muslims in Tunesia want to strip a female sprinter of her citizenship because her running outfit was too revealing. How will a Muslim Olympics handle female track outfits? Or female athletes at all? Beach vollyball alone could cause rioting.

Israeli and other Jewish athletes would not feel safe in a moslem country

Well, with Muzzies like Erdogan in power, Turkey which used to be a secular Islamic majority country will by 2020 be a full fledged Islamic state.

Mustafa Kemal must be rolling over in his grave. Unfortunately, the Turkish military which used to keep Turkey on the right path via occasional coups has been infiltrated by Erdogan. So, no hope from that quarter.

The Olympics are on a slippery downhill slope. If Turkey gets the 2020 nod, that could be the final blow. Or course WW3, the war between Christian states and Islamic states, may already have begun by then, in which case there would be no 2020 Olympics.

The three (3) finalist are Madrid, Tokyo, and Istanbul.

Madrid can't afford it. Istanbul is going too Sharia to credibly host an international field of infidels. Tokyo should have this in the bag, as long as the IOC doesn't come down with an acute case of "appease the Muslims at all costs". (Which unfortunately, they have a long history of being susceptible to.)
