In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
aliquant \AL-i-kwuhnt\, adjective
Contained in a number or quantity, but not dividing it evenly: An aliquant part of 16 is 5.
Example sentences:
Cunning is the aliquant of talent; as hypocrisy is of religion; all the threes in the universe cannot make ten.
-- Thomas Hall, The Fortunes and Adventures of Raby Rattler and His Man Floss
...even though that number was an odd number and by a quarter the number of his confiteors, even though four was an aliquant part of two thousand to hundred and nineteen, nothing being changed with regard to the masses...
-- Raymond Queneau, The Blue Flowers
Etymology:
Aliquant stems from the Latin roots ali- meaning "differently" and quantus meaning "great."
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)

WFB's attempt to emulate us ; ) No pushing at the door please!
I don’t know except they both get drawn twice a week. I don’t pay much attention, but it was over $300 million and I figured i’d give it a go.
Best band in the business.
The unemployment numbers
Are just aliquant at best
If you take a big sniff
They do ont pass that test
Higher here, lower there-
And skewed at every stage
There is no wondering why
No one is on the same page
Since this administration
Can’t get the numbers right
November is when they need
To leave and say good night
Amen sister! A+ for you.
Thank you!
You are welcome.
Ah, I see what happened. I misread your post.
I thought you had used only plus signs and were missing a three, as in:
3 + 3 + 3 + (3/3) = 10My apologies. (I should, appropriately, "get my eyes checked", but it hasn't helped.)
Carry on.
Oy.
That was not your usual run-of-the-mill Bar Mitzvah!
Crazy, right? Speaking of crazy, I was just reading the comments on an article in the Guardian. Those people are certifiable.
I have been a guest, and an entertainer, at many Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, but their have never been professional pyrotechnics! :-)
