Etymology:
1640s, from Gk. demagogos "leader of the people," from demos "people" (see demotic) + agogos "leader," from agein "to lead" (see act). A term of disparagement ever since it was first used in Athens, 5c. B.C.E. As a verb, attested by 1980s, Amer.Eng.

A++++ excellent. Texted my friend in Ocala FL a bit ago to say it was up to her family to counter the demagoguery that will be unleashed on the seniors there. She said that south FL has too many govt teat suckers but she thinks central FL gets it.

What those people in Florida and other places with their snouts in the trough don’t seem to understand is that in ten years or so, if something is not done to privatize mediscare and socialist insecurity, they will be broke-no one new will be able to get benefits, and those already getting them will see them cut to the bone. Bad economy/fewer working + low birth rate = fewer people paying in/not enough funds to maintain the payouts.
I find it funny that she didn't come out and tell the voters about this before the election. She claims they couldn't understand and it might have overwhelmed them. Ya think?
