Country singer Randy Travis was charged with driving while intoxicated and threatening law officers after he crashed his Pontiac Trans Am and was found naked and combative at the scene, Texas officials said.
The accident was reported Tuesday night, and Travis walked out of jail Wednesday morning wearing scrubs, no shoes and a University of Texas baseball cap. It was the second Texas arrest this year for Travis, who was cited in February for public intoxication.
A Pontiac Trans Am registered to the 53-year-old singer had veered off a roadway near Tioga, a town about 60 miles north of Dallas where the entertainer lives, and struck several barricades in a construction zone, said Tom Vinger, spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Vinger said Travis made threats against DPS troopers and was not wearing clothes at the time of his arrest. The singer refused sobriety tests so a blood specimen was taken, he said.
"Travis had a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on his breath and several signs of intoxication," according to a statement from the Grayson County Sheriff's Office. "While Travis was being transported, Travis made threats to shoot and kill the troopers working the case."
Grayson County District Attorney Joe Brown said his office will review the DPS report of the arrest.
A Travis representative said there would be no immediate comment on the arrest.
Travis, whose suffered facial bruises in the crash, was released on $21,500 bond Wednesday morning from the jail in Sherman, Vinger said. Blood-test results are pending.
In February, Travis was charged with public intoxication after being spotted in a vehicle parked in front of a church in Sanger, about 20 miles from Tioga.
He also has been involved in messy court proceedings with his ex-wife.

And he is the ONLY one at the drunk, nekked car race that got caught!
This is NOT the Travis who spoke and sang of hard times at my church twice.
I'm praying for this man and his future and pray that he is able to humble himself and seek the help he needs to live a full and abundant life, then share the story of his redemption from alcohol addiction with many others.
Pulling a naked drunk from a wrecked car? Now that’s entertainment!
An old friend of mine once said,”No matter where you are, there’s always something interesting to do.”
Or the face of a drunk driver who just crashed his Pontiac Trans Am into a contruction zone.
He's only alive today because the troopers knew he wasn't hiding a weapon.
And it's all my fault
But Baby come back
Before you kill us all.

At least he wasn’t caught with a stump broke horse.
Good point about nowhere to hide a weapon when you’re nekked!
Good going Randy: having woman problems? The state of no clothes and very drunk would indicate to me that some female has you frustrated and angry.
Heh...looks like the Joker character in Batman entertainment. Anyway, celebrities: spoiled rotten!
I am saddened to hear this. I know who R. Travis is but have never been a fan. I had a brother with a drinking problem and it is one of the hardest thing for a family to endure. first you are embarrassed, then you fear for their life. You feel so helpless. My brother passed two years ago at age 74, a broken sick man, I still mourn for the brother I knew as a young boy. He was a very good business man that soon lost everything he owned, including his children.
Last week, an attorney I grew up with died at age 64, he needed a liver transplant, drinking killed him. We could go on and on. They need our prayers.
That could explain quite a bit. Few things will reintroduce a man to his demons more thoroughly than messy court proceedings with an ex.
You can beat this one, Randy. Find the way.
There are plenty more songs to write and sing and even more people who need a great comeback story to help them find their one of their own.
I look into the mirror, bottle in my hand
I’d like to pour it out, I just don’t think I can
Cause that’s a hell of a lot to ask of a drinkin’ man- Drinkin’ man, George Strait
What’s that, Disrobing While Intoxicated?
There is a newer drug called “zombie”, or “bath salts” out there that causes people to act quite insane. It can be blown into someone’s face and they don’t even know that they just took it. It can cause people to become very delusional, violent, strip naked and do all kinds of things that they normally wouldn’t do. Makes me wonder if Randy didn’t get under the influence of it, knowingly, or maybe even unknowingly.
