A kilt is not a dress.

Where I grew up, if a boy wore a dress, he might get kilt.

"those who would wear a kilt are 100% male, and usually tough. "

That's why they call them commandos.

A group of Pekin Illinois bikers were riding west on I-74 when they saw a girl about to jump off the Murray Baker Bridge. So they stopped.

George, their leader, a big burly man of 53, gets off his Harley, walks through a group of gawkers, past the State Trooper, and says, “What are you doing?”

She says, “I’m going to commit suicide.”

While he didn’t want to appear “sensitive,” he didn’t want to miss a be-a-legend opportunity either so he asked “Well, before you jump, why don’t you give me a kiss?”

So, with no hesitation at all, she leaned back over the railing and did just that... and it was a long, deep, lingering kiss followed immediately by another one.

After they finished, George gets approval from his biker-buddies, the onlookers, and even the State Trooper, and says, “Wow! That was the best kiss I have ever had, Honey! That’s a real talent you’re wasting, Sugar Shorts. You could be famous if you rode with me. Why are you committing suicide?”

“My parents don’t like me dressing up like a girl.”

It’s still unclear whether she jumped or was pushed.

There is a lot of confusion here, and justifiably, because we are talking about two different things.

Gender identity is *not* the same as sexual attraction.

There are lots of people, even adults, who have confused gender identity, but are heterosexual. And yes, there are many who are both gender confused and homosexual. But the two things are not identical.

Unlike hetero- and homosexuality, gender identity has a distinct biological cause. About halfway through gestation, the testes of male fetuses secrete testosterone, which travels to their brain and tells it, it is a “male” brain. If it does not arrive, the brain is by default “female”.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of natural and artificial chemicals that can interfere with this process, either blocking the testosterone or that are chemically similar to testosterone.

For this reason, there are increasing numbers of children who have confused gender identity. But importantly, this does *not* determine who they will become sexually attracted to, which is independent of this.

In practical terms, this means more boys who are interested in feminine things, like girl’s toys and clothing and activities, or who tend to sexual androgyny. Fewer girls seem to be affected than boys, however.

Interesting point about a double-standard there.

This reminds me of a scene from the movie Slap Shot, before you can say Jack Robinson.

There is no gay gene.

Probably quite true. However.

Most birth defects are not the result of a gene. They are the result of a gene that doesn't implement properly during growth of the fetus, or of environmental factors during pregnancy.

IOW, the genetic code is like the blueprint of a house. If the completed house leaks, it is more likely the result of a failure to properly follow the plans than it is of the plan itself.

I strongly suspect some children are, sadly, born with strong cross-gender tendencies, possibly due to hormonal shifts in the mother at crucial stages in development.

But genes probably have little or nothing to do with it.

After consulting their pediatrician, a psychologist and parents of other gender-nonconforming children, they concluded that “the important thing was to teach him not to be ashamed of who he feels he is.”

D'OH!

Had they consulted some same sex couples with adopted children, they could have saved themselves a lot of adult thinking, as well as that troublesome stuff about biology, philosophy and morals.

Feh. I told that bunch of fairies what they could do with that telephone pole they were tossing around.

My proctologist says I'll be fine in a year or so.

Many years ago I knew a woman whose beautiful litle girl died. She had another child,a boy and raised him as a girl. When he began school they sent him home with a note to have his long hair cut and not to come back wearing a dress.
Mama resented that but did send him to school dressed as a boy should be dressed but at home he was her little girl.

He died a “gay” man and mama had no one to blame but herself.

“Men who wear kilts have pride in what is under them. They know what it means, what it’s for, where it goes and how it works. That is what gives them pride in being the real men that they are. They certainly haven’t lost their “muchness” even to this day.”

Joe do you still have that pic that made me a loss for words? You know which kilt one I mean too :)

There is a guy in my town that where a kilt quite often. He is likely of Scottish decent and proud of it. To me it’s a bit odd but then again those of us with Dutch decent are more drawn to wooden shoes. Never had a pair myself but there was an old farmer down the road that wore them all the time.

Wooden shoes? Don't they hurt your feet?

These are traditional clothing, we have a neighbor who wears lederhosen (sp) when he walks - yuk!

I would have never thought a kilt as a skirt. I have seen some Scots in kilts who are very manly.
