This is what’s possible when you’re free from the yoke of debt. I’ve been debt-free aside from my home for over 5 years, and it’s invigorating to say the least. To be able to walk into any store and know that I can buy something nice without fear of overdrafting or going over a limit is empowering.
Telling contractors and builders that I intend to pay in cash is almost always met with a smile and an offer to “knock $XX off the price.” Cash is still king.

I do everything that Dave suggests (with the exception of the use of a credit card that is autopaid each month), and things have worked out pretty well.

I agree with all he says about how to live (debt free) even though I have not been able to accomplish that goal myself. But, methinks he’s a little aggressive in his investment of nearly $5 million in a house. That makes his resale market very limited and his taxes and upkeep very expensive.
Note how long his neighbor’s never occupied house has been for sale.
