When you're ten, what you read generally doesn't include putting greens. Unless you're ten, and you're one of the top amateur golfers in the country. Valrico's Latanna Stone is out to prove that, after qualifying for the U.S. Women's Amateur, the most prestigious women's amateur golf tournament in the country.

Latanna qualified by shooting a two-under 70 in a regional qualifier. Her handicap is a plus-one. She drives the ball 225 yards. And she does not play from the red tees.

The USWA is August 6-12 in Cleveland, where Latanna will compete with the best female amateur golfers in the country. She's the youngest to ever qualify for the tournament, though it really wasn't a fluke. She's been swinging a club since she was two, and she's won more than 100 junior tournaments. At 5'4", she also doesn't look like she's ten--maybe more like 12 or 13.

There is a video at the source, go watch it. I'm having a hard time believing this girl is ten.

Right? Pretty physically mature for 10. Not to mention, how can she maintain her focus through 18 holes when I can’t.

I found another article about her dated 7/24 which states she is 4' 8". I guess she grew 8" is less then a month. I can't find where she was born. I do remember the little league scandals with the kids from foreign countries with fake birth certificate. Kind of like 0bama.

I remember the first time I shot under 100. I was feeling pretty good about myself. Then I rememberd that I still had to shoot the back nine.

I shoot in the high 70s. If it gets any hotter, I don’t play.

Hell I can shoot a seventy. I just play the front nine.

I also sell at 100.

The U.S. Women’s Amateur Public links Championship was just held at Neshanic in NJ. This is open to all women who DO NOT BELONG to a rich person’s country club. I should think this is a better tournament in that the girls who play here have to really struggle to get there. They aren’t born into wealthy families who can give them the best equipment, the best instruction, the best courses to play on. Michelle Wie was going to be the next Tiger too! That didn’t happen.
