Gabrielle Douglas won the gold medal in the all-around womens gymnastics event at the Olympics on Thursday and in a post-win interview said that all the glory for her win goes to God. She also tweeted her thanks to God, stressing may I never forget the good things he does for me.
Gabby Douglas, 16, came in first for the gold medal on Thursday after superior performances on the uneven bars, the balance beam, and the floor exercise mat. This was her second gold medal at the games and she is the first African American woman in Olympics history to win the all-around gymnastics competition.
After her win, Gabby Douglas told NBC, It is everything I thought it would be; being the Olympic champion, it definitely is an amazing feeling.
And I give all the glory to God, she said. It's kind of a win-win situation. The glory goes up to Him and the blessings fall down on me.
On her Twitter account, Douglas has posted numerous Tweets thanking God for His help and expressing her devotion to God.
On Aug. 2, Douglas tweeted, Let all that I am praise the LORD; may I never forget the good things he does for me.
On July 31, she tweeted, But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
On July 30, she tweeted, I believe in God. He is the secret of my success. He gives people talent.
On July 28, Douglas tweeted, Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged; for the Lord will be with you wherever you go!
Back on July 2, she tweeted, But at the end of the day the glory ALWAYS to God!
On June 17, she tweeted, Happy Fathers Day everyone! Enjoy this day and praise God for he has given us wonderful dads:-)
On June 11, Gabby Douglas tweeted, Always give God the #glory #ALWAYS!
After Gabby's first performance I even said: "That girl has a Wheaties box cover in her future".
Gymnastics is one of my favorite things at the Olympics. I shed a little tear when I watched her receiving her gold medal and played the National Anthem.
With girls like Gabby - our next generation is in good hands!
I also noticed something too. When Michael Phelps was being interviewed by a reporter (don’t remember who it was) - he was asked about how he felt about a personal phone call from the president. Michael didn’t respond to the question, but, instead said something about some sports figure (don’t remember who it was) calling him and how it thrilled him. But, not one word of a response about the squatter-in-chief’s phone call. I took that to mean Michael is voting for Romney! LOL
I'm just being nit picky.
RE: Id love to give her a Chick Fil A sammich! Praise to MY BOSS !
Speaking of Chick-Fil-A, if a reporter wants to spoil everything, all he/she has to do is ask Gabby whether she believes marriage is between a man and a woman.
That one question alone will do the trick.
Her Dad is also a Staff Sergeant in the Air Force with tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.
She makes me proud to be an America. What an awesome young lady!
I love her smile. I didn’t know she was a Christian when I first saw her, but I loved her instantly. She really brings tears to my eyes.
Love this quote especially:
It's kind of a win-win situation. The glory goes up to Him and the blessings fall down on me.
There's a lot of wisdom in those words!
It used to be that the Russians would totally dominate women’s gymnastics. I think since the fall of the Iron Curtain between 1989 and 1991, many Russian coaches found better pay in the USA, and as such the quality of female gymnasts in the USA have dramatically improved since then.
She has been attending my church while training in West Des Moines. Seems like a really solid kid, beyond her years.
She is America’s gift from God.
RE: She has been attending my church while training in West Des Moines.
Can you share with us the name of the church? Thanks.

Thanks. For those who visit West De Moines, Iowa, here is the church that Gabby Douglas attends:
I used to go there; good people. Our church was started by them.
