NBC's coverage of the London Olympics may have drawn record ratings, but it has been met with an often derisive reception from many parts of the internet. While most of the criticism has focussed on the controversial tape delay, several commentators have now turned on host Ryan Seacrest, who anchors much of the coverage. Many have attacked Mr Seacrest's background in showbiz rather than sport, with one journalist describing him as 'a personality marked mostly by lack of personality'. However, the star hit back at the criticism, saying: 'You can't please everyone.'

Wow! What a clever comeback!
When you watch the NFL or college football, you’re typically watching guys who have played the game and who have personalities. Why is it that we can’t get former Olympians or at least those who have competed in the sports interviewing?
I think many want to get to the story of an athlete but also want to feel they take away something unique about a sport that they probably won’t watch for another few years.
Gay Mafia member?
Ryan Seacrest is a producer of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. That tells everything.
I thought Seacrest was doing in studio interviews well after the event is over. What we have been seeing (at least that is what I thought) was athletes in their field who became announcers doing the interviews by the pool, off the mat, etc.
Costas is still the best.
Mo Tran is NOT Homosexual just a LA, California WUSS!
No Ryan is NOT Homosexual just a LA, California WUSS!
SOMETHING Wierd happened w/ this post(did I flunk 7th grade typing class!?)!
Really? I heard that he was Harry Reid’s boyfriend. Go ahead...prove me wrong.
I don’t know why everyone is always hating on Ryan Seacrest. I like him a lot. He’s polite to the people he interviews, he puts up very kindly with a lot of the crazies he encounters on American Idol, he was totally sweet to Dick Clark in his (many) declining years’ appearances on the New Year’s Eve broadcast, he doesn’t seem to be full of himself like so many TV hosts are. And I don’t know whether he is gay or not but it seems that every man who doesn’t look and dress like a complete slob is now thought to be gay, which is tiresome.
I haven’t seen him on the olympics yet, but I’m sure he’s doing a better job than many of them, because so far most of the commentators on the actual events have been TERRIBLE.
He was tight with one of Tiger's cast-offs so he's at least attracted to girls sometimes
You guys are so interested in gay men. Why? Sheesh Free Republic should not be high school. Really it is incredible that you all want these actors to come out. I don’t. In fact if another gay never comes out, I would be very happy. Why does everyone here want these guys to be gay? Or why is it even a topic.
