I remember seeing O'Toole on Letterman in the mid 80s. Dave asked him about the nature of his relationship with the recently deceased Rock Hudson. O'Toole proceeded to tell a story:

He woke up in the morning with Hudson handing him a drink and saying "Today is a day for getting drunk".

He said the last thing he remembered was the sun setting and both of them riding on a horse still in their pajamas.
