A lot of my youth was spent skiing on the Mississippi. One of my ski buddies wiped out and hit a submerged tree. He got a limb up the rear and out his side. Nearly killed him and infection was a real concern. As far as I know he still has the chunk of wood hanging on his wall. Alcohol may have been involved.
