It seems to be the conservative side that actually writes books that sell and therefore are the purchasers of the best selling books.

HarperCollins might want to tread cautiously.

I guess that’s right. Was being too optimistic about companies coming to Chick-Fil-A’s aid.

Cathy only made his comments as a pretext, so that they could eventually pull the toy. That’s what this whole thing has been about.

OK, I'm confused. Do the Berenstain people agree with Chick-Fil-A, or not? The son suggested that his parents, the original authors, do the Living Lights series (also published by HarperCollins!), and those deal with God and such.

The displayed message (which is posted on the Berenstain website as a "memo") is very ambiguous - or is it meant to be? I don't know.....

Oh, and it would be really funny (ha ha) if the Muppets thing did turn out to be defective and had to be recalled. Of course, libs would start a rumor about all of this was the other way around.

It would be nice if the Benstein company would endorse Chick-Fil-A rather than having that wimpy message about the controversy

I don't see it. Berenstain Bears was one of the early forces portraying the father of the family as an amiable doofus, with mama knowing all and pretty much running the show. I try to keep that stuff out of my house.

Absolutely, done with Henson-related products as well. Its amazing how these companies go out and strongly profess their support for gay marriage but any messages supporting the traditional family are basically treated as hate speech or some kind of outrage.

I don’t know that the author of “50 Shades of Rubbish” is a conservative :P

It’s a Culture War. On one side is freedom and morality. The other side is tyranny, perversion and fascism.

“This program was in development for over a year. We were unaware of any controversy involving Chick-Fil-A until July 25th.”

The Cathy family serves chicken.
The Berenstain family are chicken.

It sounds like the Berenstain family just want to not be harassed by the Left about it. The text of the message:

Our publisher, HarperCollins, is marketing several of their Berenstain Bears titles through a kids' meal promotion at Chick-Fil-A scheduled for August. This program was in development for over a year. We were unaware of any controversy involving Chick-Fil-A until July 25th.

The Berenstain family does not at this time have control over whether this program proceeds or not. We hope those concerned about this issue will direct their comments toward HarperCollins and Chick-Fil-A. Sincerely, The Berenstain Family.

simply states that they do not have control over the program, and anybody wanting to complain should contact the people actually in control. The statement does not include any wording critical of CFA or supporting gay marriage.

The comments came on 7/24. The puppets were recalled on 7/19. How could CFA then be enacting retribution for something that had not happened yet?

Already answered that. Have another look at what I said.

they don’t have to. They are too rich and too big to care what anyone thinks and I am saddened by what has happened to American literature. It’s all so dull and shallow.

I am at present re-reading the journals of Thomas Merton and I realize that today he, as a religious, would be considered dirt.

I like that idea. Everyone needs to have lunch at Chick’s on Wedensday—I plan on buying at least 10 sandwiches (maybe 20)..and donate them to the Regional Food Bank..

What is your personal position on Chick-Fil-A?

Would you eat there?

My personal position is that I support them, and feel this outcry against them is disgraceful, and constitutes a publicity stunt by the rainbow agenda (and one I feel will backfire soon). Hell yes, I plan to eat there in Aug. when I am in South Jersey. ;)

There is also a small paperback copy of the Constitution or a dictionary as well as the New Testament. Even the old original Golden Books are great. I would like to think that there is someone who prints smaller size Bible stories for kids.
