I upgraded from Lion to Mountain Lion on one of my Macs, but I forgot that Mac upgrades tend to come with unintended consequences, such as certain of my desktop graphic$ + $creen $aver$ are now also clamoring to be upgraded -- for an addiitonal fee.

If that is the worst thing that happens if I upgraded, it would be worth it;-). I jut bought a new TV so I can now hook up an Apple TV to it, so it would have been nice to do the mirroring.
