“I’m shocked that some people don’t know the difference between ‘their’,’there’ and ‘they’re’.

Or ‘your’ and ‘you’re’.”

I’m with you 100%.

More of my pet peeves are the misapplication of “to” “too” and “two”.

And let us not forget the constant annoying misuse of “effect” and “affect”.

Then there is the misuse of apostrophes, particularly “it’s” when they really mean “its”. Or worse, overuse of apostrophes. Some people seem to want to use them in front of every “s” that ends any word.

I am personally guilty of overuse of commas. I’m an awful writer but I at least try to use the correct words.

Insure and ensure are the twins to effect and affect.

Being concious of grammer makes one suseptable to being the company "proofreader". But it beats having the company put out something that sound like it was written by a 6th grader....

I used to have a neighbor who had this bumper sticker on her car:

“Smile! It makes people wonder what your up too.”

Yes, it was spelled that way.

Guilty as charged! I ALWAYS have a problem with those two words. It drives me crazy because I know I should not have such a problem.

This is one misspelling that I'm afraid will go on forever. Most Freepers simply cannot get it into their heads that "it's" is the contraction of "it" and "is" and "its" is the possessive pronoun.

They can see the words spelled correctly in the article being commented upon and still cannot get it right. Hopeless.
