The exit of Roger Moore from the James Bond franchise opens the door to better films, a return to espionage plots and an outstanding new lead.

The new Bond has about the same amount of class as a common street thug and looks it too.
I cringe to thinks what the next one will look and act like.
What did you think of HRM The Queen and Daniel Craig’s awesome entrance last night during the 2012 opening ceremonies?
Ian Fleming must be smiling from the Heavens above.
Dalton is my #2 behind Connery as well.
I thought he brought the darkness and demons that haunt Bond to the role without openly discussing them.
He could be cold, charming or comedic.
Absolutely an actor of the highest caliber (pun intended).
It's being rumored that the next Bond director will be Christopher Nolan of Batman fame. If it's true, how big a leap would it be to the next Bond being Christian Bale?
Agree with all of those points but number 9. I loved the Aston Martin and all its gadgets. It was the best Bond movie made since “Thunderball” and to 1980s Bond what “From Russia With Love” was to 1960s Bond and “Casino Royale” was to 2000s Bond. Also, Kara is one of my two favorite Bond girls(I consider her and Fiona Volpe from “Thunderball” to be the Mary Ann and Ginger of the Bond girls.)

Although I think Bale will have a role in any Chris Nolan-Bond Film (if Nolan takes over).....do not be surprised if Tom Hardy is Nolan’s bond. Hardy has roles in Inception and now Dark Knight Rises.
Hardy is muscular, dashing, and most of all...English. I think he would make a great bond
Guy Hamilton needs to be reincarnated...
Tom Hardy also has the sort of face that would looknl good with a few scars, just like Bond is supposed to have.
Saw TLD the day it was released in 1987 at a late showing. The crowd was raucous, to say the least. Alas, it was the last Bond film that had that classic feel to it. Dalton was great, though it’s too bad he didn’t begin the role a decade earlier when Rog was clearly getting long in the tooth (although he could’ve started as early as ‘69 in OHMSS, he probably was too young — though he was the calibre of actor he could’ve easily and credibly inhabited the role for 25 years or longer).
As for the Afghanistan angle, it’s so strange to see that aspect of it today. In the ‘80s when the Soviets were the overarching enemy of freedom (as in the film), it was hard to imagine then that those same Mohammadans standing up to the Evil Empire would they themselves be just as evil (if not moreso) and horrific a threat to the rest of the civilized world (not specifically the Afghanis, but the entirety of that Islamicist ideology).
Not mentioned in the article is that the insurance company wouldn’t insure Walter Gotell to play Gen. Gogol in the scenes that were ultimately given to Gen. Pushkin (John Rhys-Davies) that would’ve required some physical work (since Gotell had been ill), though he did end up making a cameo (his last in the role).
I actually watched Octopussy the other night and could not stop laughing. It was brilliant, and outrageously funny. No, it wasn’t gritty realism a la Craig or Dalton. But it was amazing entertainment. Connery, Lazenby, Moore, Dalton, Craig. All amazing in their own way. Sorry, but I could never stand Brosnan as Bond.
Her 'Domino' in Thunderball was one of the most beautiful women ever filmed. Gorgeous.
The first 20 minutes of Goldfinger, from the "shocking" intro, titles, Miami Beach flyover, and Jill Masterson scene was absolutely directorial perfection. One of the most amazing starts to a film I have ever seen. Hamilton's work of genius that film.
True.
A few of them have been watchable but that is about the best you can say for the Bond movies since “You Only Live Twice”.
Even Connery was in one bad one, “Diamonds Are Forever”. Actually it was way better than most of the Roger Moore ones.
Most of the Roger Moore, Remington Steel ones have been absolutely awful. Sort of like watching Bugs Bunny or Roadrunner cartoons except the cartoons were more realistic and better.
I missed it but Fleming would be proud.
