So two cases in U.S. case law. If that is all that can be presented as evidence that handloads are a legal liability, and it convinces someone to use factory ammo, then it should be pretty easy to convince them to leave their gun at home and willingly become a victim. For that matter they should probably sell their guns because guns are dangerous.

I've met Ayoob and know a couple of people that have taken his course. It doesn't take too long using his examples and reasoning that the best thing to do legally is to just let yourself be killed. That really isn't his point of course, but it is to limit your liability in every way you possibly can so that if you are pushed to the extreme of defending yourself there are the fewest possible variables that the prosecution can work with. The problem with this concept is that minus any legal liability what so ever you could still be the victim an over zealous prosecutor like Zimmerman. Further you have to weigh the real risk that limiting your legal liability could make you a victim.
