There's only one little country store in NH that sells the chocolate ones....a whole sleeve of chocolate!
We squirrel them away...until we can go north again. I think a mascot is a good idea.
My late father was partial to Necco wafers (as am I, for that matter). Many a Christmas he would receive an entire box from one of us.
Here’s an interesting bit of trivia- according to an American Heritage article I read some years ago, Necco Wafers are the oldest continuously manufactured product in the country!
“My late father was partial to Necco wafers... Necco Wafers are the oldest continuously manufactured product in the country!”
My dad (a Worcester boy!) loved them too. They were one of the few candies he approved of. He also probably already knew about them being the oldest continuously manufactured product, he always strove to keep up with obscure facts like that!
My grandma (father’s mother-in-law) really only approved of York Peppermint patties.
I don’t know why these two were such candy snobs/puritans, but they were.
Me, I’m partial to Hershey’s chocolate (even though my mother told me Hershey’s was rather anti-Catholic) and Mounds Bars (which my friend told me are actually kind of healthy).
But let’s face it, if you want to play “Mass” you need the Necco wafers, made, as fate would have it, in Mass.
Cue Jonathan Richman! (Jewish? Maybe? No?)
Rock on New England, we’ll get you back in the right wing EVENTUALLY!
Happy Birthday...now have another Necco!
Leggo my Necco!

I love the chocolate ones.
Always threw away the black ones. LOL
Have you tried Haviland Thin Mints?
Best chocolate mints ever made.
