Alderman going overboard on Chick-Fil-A bullying
Chicago Red Sun Times ^ | 7/26/12 | Mary Mitchell

Posted on 07/26/2012 9:34:49 AM PDT by lado

Apparently, Mayor Rahm Emanuel agrees, saying, “Chick-fil-A values are not Chicago values.” Thomas M. Menino, Boston’s mayor, has also vowed to deny the restaurant chain a permit to build there.

The problem with this sanctimonious dissing of Chick-fil-A is that there is no proof the business has discriminated against gay couples, let alone any of its customers or employees.

In fact, company executives assured Moreno they would leave the debate about gay rights to the politicians and government.

But those assurances apparently aren’t good enough.

Moreno is attempting to deny Chick-fil-A the right to do business in the 1st Ward because he doesn’t like Cathy’s religious beliefs, and that’s just wrong.

Do these same rules apply to business owners that are Muslims, Jews, Catholics, and Jehovah’s Witnesses? I mean, what the heck happened to religious freedom?

People have a choice of not patronizing this fast food restaurant.

But the city shouldn’t be bullying this CEO because an alderman disagrees with his interpretation of the Bible.

If this is allowed, what’s next?

Will the city start granting business permits based on whether or not a company’s owner supports gay marriage?

And this is from ultra-lefty race-baiting Mary Mitchell. As they say, a broken clock is right twice a day.

This is big. The Jew Emmanuel gets schooled by one of the biggest race-baiters in the city (and she race-baits in this article too). I don’t think it’s just a stopped-clock.

I think it’s the race-baiters telling the foul-mouthed sneering jackass of a mayor, finally, to just chill on this. Emmanuel is the darling of the whiteys in Boystown and the race-baiter from the South Side is telling him he picked the wrong fight and to pay attention to the people who really call the electoral shots in this town—the south side government teat-suckers.

So let’s see. A restaurant supports family values that have stabilized nations over the eons and this self-hating Jewish mayor of a war zone city instead prefers to support the filthiest, racist, genocide endorsing cockroach?

Ah yes, mayor’s a Democrat. I forgot.

Gee, I'm glad to see that the unemployment rates in Chicago and Boston are so low that these two dopes can be selective in choosing which businesses can open in their cities.

I think this stunt by CNN to villify CFA and Christians is going to ultimately backfire on them. Sales will grow for CFA, CNNs ratings will stay down in the dumps, and Leftists will be exposed for the unjustified, hateful witch hunters that they are.

Sounds like a wonderful theme for billboards in Boston and Chicago:

"We would love to bring jobs to your city: talk to your mayor" -- Chick-Fil-A

Sarah Palin weighs in:

“Chicago thuggery is a scary thing in 2012,” Palin told me. “For its politicians to think they can muscle businesses and shut them out just because they hold a differing, albeit traditional, view on an issue is a scary thing indeed.”

Emanuel said he would support banning the construction of a second Chicago-area Chick-fil-A because the company’s owner believes in the biblical definition of marriage — meaning a union of one man and one woman.

“Chick-fil-A values are not Chicago values,” Emanuel said in a statement to Fox News.

Palin balked at the threats to ban the private, family-owned restaurant from the Windy City.

“With a representative of Chicago politics making these threats, I’d be loathe to support any politician hailing from Chicago who supported Rahm and this radical action.”

Palin said the owner of Chick-fil-A is opposed to redefining the traditional definition of marriage — as are most Americans who’ve voted on the issue.

“The leftwing’s double standard with intolerance of other people’s opinions is quite tiring, yet so expected,” she added. “This is merely more of the same.

I think this stunt by CNN to villify CFA and Christians

There's a lot more to it than that. As has been discussed on many other threads, Chicago and other US cities are virtual power-kegs with routine mob/flash-mob violence now taking place. Almost exclusively involving Black youth(s) as the aggressors and whites as the victims. Including members of the gay community (note the attack this past week on that gay couple in DC, where the press refuse to issue any sort of description of the suspects other than them being in their late-teens/early 20s and having taunted/harassed the gay couple with anti-gay slurs)

I think the Chik-fil-A controversy is providing the political leadership of places like Chicago and Boston a convenient distraction to throw in front of their white Liberal/gay constituents so they don't pay a lot of attention to the much more serious problem of mob/flash-mob and anti-gay violence.

Aug 1, Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day.

We went to one in the local Mall food court 2 days ago. I had never been.
They had a ‘waiter’ going around to people with their drink cups asking if he could get refills for the customers.
He took my name and brought our order to us.

Amazing service for the fast food restaurant. We are definitely going back.

Aug. 1...Aug.1...
