“couldnt bring treats”
In lots of school districts, you can’t bring treats now, unless they are shredded veggies rolled up in lettuce leaves-and how do you make cupcakes out of that stuff?
I don’t care for sweet stuff, but a bite of cheesecake or a cookie is nice now and again, screw the food nannies...
Private schools still can and every year I sent two homemade cookie pizzas loaded with candy for xskids. Public school, I believe you are correct.
Karl Maunder was one of favorite actors, bless his big nose!
Another very good argument for private schools-let kids have some harmless fun now and then.
Some friends and neighbors used to chide my first husband and I because he worked an extra job in the Carter years so our cub could go to private school-today, my neighbors who have school-age kids are doing without all the frills to keep their kids in private schools. History does repeat...
Open a bank account; apply for food stamps/welfare/social security; obtain a narcotic prescription (at least at Walgreens they have a big sign); Vote, if you are not a minority; to legally purchase a firearm, to buy alcohol/cigarettes (to prove age)..... any more you can think of?
Oh, i had to show id when I first went to my doctor to prove the insurance was mine.
To apply for a job at most places, enter a federal building and many county courthouses, at any traffic stop/block, to get into some concerts(depends upon the private security), to pick up a kid at school, if you are not the custodial parent, to cash/write a check at a place where you are not known, to test drive and purchase a vehicle at many dealerships, to obtain a military ID if you are a military dependent.
I don’t know about civilian clinics/hospitals/ERs, but-to receive services at a VA facility-and to apply for a loan/credit in person at a retail establishment.
I’m sure there are others, but those are the ones I’ve heard about or had personal experience with.
Oh, yeah-when I was a casemanager, the company I worked for required me to ask for an ID from every client to prove that they were indeed the person on the workers comp insurance.
?!?!?!?!? WTF?
Do you know how much advance work that took?
Thats Me,CJ,Neo,HD,Truthy, and the Dark guy is a reminder of your college days ; )
Rme !
Happy birthday!
I’m at IAH now just liming for a few hours.
Sarah’s school had a new rule last year against homemade treats, cause there’s no nutrition label.
You’re not supposed to be the one bringing confections on your birthday....
Have a great day!
Thanks! Had a manicure, having a massage in a half hour. Xsboy napping on my couch, xsbaby reading on the balcony, xshub finally finished with meetings finally gets to go to the pool. Spent the AM there, so I’m done.
Thanks, mik!
When do you go back home?
Tomorrow. I’m ready. We will celebrate my birthday at home on Sunday with xsteen. So it will be two days of celebrating. /0xshub and his staff have done quite a job of letting the hotel know its my bday. They brought me a muffin with a candle at breakfast, the manicurist gave me a gift of soaps and creams, and room service wheeled in a cake just now.
Good ones!
Libraries don’t give out library cards without photo ID. Can you cash checks without one? Like a paycheck? How about when you go to the post office to pick up a package?
Finally, we got cable again. Just in time to have some cake! Happy Birthday! Sounds like you are having a grand time. You deserve it!
Thanks, Ti!
