As he blames the president for the prospect of large cuts in defense spending next year, Republican Mitt Romney is ignoring the role that Congress and members of his own party played in setting up that possibility. Romney spoke to VFW members one day after President Obama addressed the group. Obama painted an encouraging picture of the additional resources his administration has poured into helping veterans get disability benefits and mental health treatment. THE FACTS: Romney ignores the central role that Congress played last summer in setting the stage for such a massive cut in the Pentagon's budget. At issue was the need to increase the government's borrowing cap and avoid a disastrous default on U.S. obligations. It was House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, who originally insisted that the increase in the debt limit be matched by deficit cuts. After talks between Boehner and Obama failed to produce an agreement, top congressional leaders took the lead in crafting a fallback agreement that included nearly $1 trillion in cuts from projected increases to agency budgets over a decade and created a "supercommittee" to find at least $1.2 trillion in cuts to the military and other agencies.
See B.S. lives up to it’s name again
Well, of course not. Obama never wants the "buck" to land in his lap, so his propagandists are just helping him pass it along.
I have no problem with them blaming Boehner for the mess, as long as they state the fact that he was at most 1/3 to blame, with Reid and Obama being the other 2/3.
Seriously: who couldn’t see this coming a year ago when Boner and McConnell cut their little deal with the devil?
A pox on both their houses.
Yes, thank G-d CBS is looking out for us and FINALLY reporting the truth! What a relief!
Fake but accurate, and that's the way it is...
First off, McConnell has no power in the Senate. On top of that, he has no gonada. Bonehead is the speaker of the house and heads up the majority but in the senate parlimentary process, majority leader Weed, er Reid is the one with the most power. If he choses not to bring it up for a vote, it does not come up...exhibit one, the budget for the past three years. So, while Ears sits on his royal arse, he has his court jester Weed, er Reid, stall anything to avoid any sense of a buy in by the man child.
I again wish to extend my appreciation to Nevada for return this POS to the Senate for another six year term.
Yes but...
White House tells media what to print, edits news prior to publication... http://ow.ly/cuXl8
Obama is a lazy bum when it comes to working with Congress. He played a round of golf with John Boehner and thought his work was done. From that point forward it was scapegoating, straw men, and glib put-downs at press conferences. Obama takes the low road and CBS is more than eager to reward him for it.
