Just guessing, but as hard as they work to build their dams and lay up food for the winter, I imagine beavers are pretty territorial.

I was thinking the same thing. Wonder if there are any baby beavers in that area, or if that beaver was pregnant.

I remember seeing a tree taken down by a beaver. The large size of the chewed out wood chips amazed me. Their teeth and jaws are powerful.
