A Southern California jury has convicted a man of murdering his wife and their 6-year-old daughter after a paternity test revealed the child was not his.
The Riverside County jury found 55-year-old Michael Barbar guilty Friday of two counts of first-degree murder in the November 2009 case.
Prosecutors say Barbar, who had raised the child since birth, smashed her head against a bedpost and strangled his wife eight days after finding out the girl was not his.
Jurors also found true the special circumstance allegation of lying in wait, which makes Barbar eligible for the death penalty.

This man is an evil monster.
...which makes Barbar eligible for the death penalty. Hardy har-har, California hasn’t executed anyone in a while, and the progressive here are too worried about harboring illegals and giving them grants to go to college than figuring out that a murderer has lost his or her right to a painless death-—unlike the victims they slaughtered.
Fry him....twice!
Same question to ask of every woman who gets an abortion.
Agreed.
Another sad thing is, given the state of laws today, the “father” would have to pay for and be responsible for the financial well-being of his “daughter” no matter who the DNA father is.
No sanction on the part of the straying wife, no responsibility for the biological father to contribute financially or anything—the non-DNA father must pay.
The husband is the one that gets screwed when the wife steps outside the marriage and has a kid with another man.
you feel sorry for this loser? He was never alive inside.
Not even close! Just trying to explain a possible reason for his terrible reaction.
He's scum to me too...
I can understand that this man would feel angry and betrayed. But to kill this child, particularly in such a horrible, violent way is not understandable. It’s cruel and evil. I could cry.
I didn’t read the article closely enough apparently because there is some more info I didn’t catch the first time around that upset me too.
Now I understand the questions to my response.
no you are incorrect about that, he is merely a presumed father or a legal dad. As soon as the dna results are known, he has no further obligation to support. Of course if he is a decent person, he realizes it is not the child’s fault, and the child regards him as her father and she still loves him.
I have heard terrible things, like dad driving the child across several states and dropping her off at mom’s never to be heard from again. Men are ignoramuses when it comes to emotions, if they are all wrapped up in their ego like this narcissist.
Ever see the movie "The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit"?
no the mother was not responsible in any way...
a man...a FATHER....brutally murders a little girl and her mother....
stop with the ridiculous excuses....
daddy dearest is an evil murderer....

when I hear the excuse making and the “poor me” whining after a horrific double murder and the blaming of the victims, I feel so sorry for the human race....even here on FR, we’ve got people who can’t see the forest for the trees when it comes to crime, even murder...
