Some have said Windows 8 seems to have been designed more as a mobile OS than a desktop OS.

Would you recommend it for the typical office professional who does most of their work in an office environment on a desktop machine using a CRM, spreadsheets, word processing, etc?

I’ve been using it a home for personal use, but I dont see why it wouldn’t work well in an office environment. Office 2010 works flawlessly under Windows 8, and I believe that Office 2013 will be Metro applications designed for Windows 8. I recommend you download it to a personal machine and give it a try for a week or so. I predict you’ll have a hard time going back to the old style Windows.
