So you say your Android Phone has seized up and you're unable to access all that Intarweb Goodness*, let alone make phone calls?
Have all other remedies failed?
Is that what's got ya down, Bucky?
WELL, I'VE GOT THE TOUGH LOVE CURE FOR YOU RIGHT HERE. Here are the steps for performing a "hard reset" of your Android phone.
Why do I post this? Just because it might not otherwise come up in Polite Conversation.
- Make sure your Android phone is off. The screen being blank/dark is a good hint that this is so.
- Press & hold these keys all together:
- The Volume UP key on the left side of the unit
- The Power key on the right side of the unit
- The Home key on the bottom of the screen
- This will bring up an Android menu on your screen.
- Use the Volume Up/Down keys to navigate to the choice labeled, "Wipe Data/Factory Reset"
- Choose that
- Press the Volume UP key to continue
- This will bring up another screen where the default choice reads, "Android System Recovery?" You don't want this. Use the Volume DOWN key to scroll to the option labeled, "Reboot System Now"
- You Android phone should then reboot
This will reset your Android to its original factory settings (but will not "undo" any rooting of your Android phone that you may have already done) and will delete any apps you have installed. These apps are easily enough downloaded again, though.

And why should anyone perform this reboot?

I have a lot of chinese DSP portable radios.
They all lose their brains on occasion.
There is generally a pinhole that you can insert something like a toothpick to reset the microprocessor.
Seems like the simple solution.

Because they “rooted” their phone and some “questionable” apps got in there and are wreaking havoc on the system.

Just hold the down volume and press the power key for 15 seconds. This will do a hard reset w/out scrubbing all info. If that doesn’t work, then do total factory reset. Always try the other first. M2C.
