I really don’t like this weather. My shrubs are crispy, my gardens are wilted, the lawns are brown, and the park trails are covered with dead leaves like mid autumn. Watering cannot undo the damage of excessive heat. Plus we’re all on water restrictions anyway.

I saw on an astronomy site how the weather is affected when there is a solar maximum, like now-yeowch!

We had enough rain a week or so ago to keep the forest happy, but most of the bushes in my yard are getting crispy, too. The ground cover is okay, especially over the septic drain field-it is all native stuff and drought tolerant. Even an inch of rain will perk up everything and make blooms appear on lantana, sunflowers and such.

Everyone on the street has huge piles of branches and debris from last Fridays storm and now they are looking brown and crispy. They’re still not 100% power restored everywhere but I wish they’d pick up the debris.

How could the sun have anything to do with warming? ;-)

Since the trend seems to be naming weather things after their Spanish names, we’ll have to blame el Sol.

That sucks that it happens in a populated area-when a storm makes a mess out here, it always takes the road and bridge crews with chippers, chainsaws, etc at least 3-4 days to get out here, and a week or longer if there is a lot of debris-this is a large county in area, but not all that many people.

I suppose a lot of people think the sun just sits out there in space, a big, yellow ball, perfectly still and unchanged. I wonder why they have never watched the science channel, discovery channel, visited an internet site about the solar system, etc-aren’t most humans curious about the world/universe around them any more? If they are not, then where will the next new discoveries in astronomy and the natural sciences come from?

You are the most beloved tiger! I was having a brain cramp, I think I lost some brain cells this week. They were boiled out in the heat!
