Washington [PA] police followed a potato chip trail to arrest the suspect in a burglary early Thursday at a fast-food restaurant, where several bags of the snack were stolen.
The trail led to Washington High School, where city police found and arrested Benjamin J. Sickles in the 2:23 a.m. break-in at a Subway at 217 Jefferson Ave., court records show.
Police accuse Sickles, 21, of 70 W. Katherine Ave., of breaking three panes of glass in a door to enter the restaurant and make an unsuccessful attempt to open the cash register.
He then allegedly threw cups at the register and fled after grabbing nine bags of potato chips, police stated in the affidavit. The high school is across the street from the restaurant.

You know what’s really stupid? I don’t know of any business that leaves money in the cash register after hours.
Caught red-handed....
I'd guess if you could measure the IQ of the typical smash and grab thief, it wouldn't reach room temperature in an igloo.
He’s 21 and they found him at the High School???
That explains a lot....
You leave the till not merely empty but also open overnight.
