It must have been from concussions he suffered years ago in his sport.

I had an uncle who passed away a few years back at the age of 94. He was a life-long snuff chewer. The State of New York actually listed "tobacco use" as a contributing cause of death on his death certificate!

Reminds me of my neighbor's remark when I told him I was trying to quit smoking and it was very difficult ..
