What you smell is an FR hate club. But don’t despair, you’re headed down that path yourself. I’ve seen it happen many times. You will continue “critiquing” FR and telling us with every post how low we’re sinking. Then you’ll start slamming any pro-life FReeper who dares defend their conservative positions. You’ll attack them and call them Obama supporters or Mitt-Haters, etc, and it’ll continue going downhill from there until eventually there’s no choice but to part company. Then you’ll blame me for turning on you after you “invested” 10-15 years on FR and off to the anti-freeper site of the day you’ll scoot. It’s the same story everytime that I don’t bend to someone’s will or meet their ultimatums. Just like millions of other pro-life, small government grassroots conservatives, I will not support an abortionist/homosexualist statist for the presidency under any circumstances whatsoever, and that really gets your goat. Don’t look now but your posts are really hostile and bitter against me and FR and are getting more so each day. I barely recognize the old yam anymore. But of course, you’ll say the same thing about me. Pro-Life, pro-family, small government grassroots conservatism vs big tent True Blue RINOism. It’s like oil and water.
I have been criticizing the extremist Mitt Haters, not for hating Mitt, but rather for doing so in a way that is of low character.
(I am pretty sure you are in no mood to appreciate the distinction I'm making here, but I AM making a distinction and it IS important.)
Now, apparently, someone (not me) has posted scurrilous stuff about you and FR under my handle on the "TBL" site, and lo and behold a couple of the most vociferous Mitt Haters are here on this thread posting quotes from these fraudulent posts.
Here's what I think is going on:
I think one or more of the Mitt Haters created the bogus "TBL" account themselves, wrote the ugly posts, and then used their handiwork to slander me to you.
What I take away from this episode is that I was exactly correct in identifying these extreme Mitt Haters as people of low character whose domination of the political threads on this site has been bad for FR and bad for conservatism.
Now, as I said above, you seem in no mood to step back and wonder whether and how you might be getting played here. It seems that your antipathy for Mitt Romney is so intense that you just don't care about anything else.
But character and integrity are critical. "Character is destiny" goes the old saying. You have said numerous things critical of my character over the last couple of months, all of them false (as I've pointed out to you in each instance). I have never once disparaged your character, not here on FR or anywhere else, despite your claims to the contrary.
That is a fact.
