Jonathan Krohn took the political world by storm at 2009s Conservative Political Action Conference when, at just 13 years old, he delivered an impromptu rallying cry for conservatism that became a viral hit and had some pegging him as a future star of the Republican Party.
Now 17, Krohn who went on to write a book, Defining Conservatism, that was blurbed by the likes of Newt Gingrich and Bill Bennett still watches that speech from time to time, but it mostly makes him cringe because, well, hes not a conservative anymore.
I think it was naive, Krohn now says of the speech. Its a 13-year-old kid saying stuff that he had heard for a long time. I live in Georgia. Were inundated with conservative talk in Georgia. The speech was something that a 13-year-old does. You havent formed all your opinions. Youre really defeating yourself if you think you have all of your ideas in your head when you were 12 or 13. Its impossible. You havent done enough.
Krohn wont go so far as to say hes liberal, in part because his move away from conservatism was a move away from ideological boxes in general.
I want to be Jonathan Krohn, he said, and Im tired of being an ideology, and its not fun and it gets boring and its not who we are as individuals.
But a quick rundown of his current political stances suggests a serious pendulum swing away from the right.
Gay marriage? In favor. Obamacare? Its a good idea. Who would he vote for (if he could) in November? Probably Barack Obama. His favorite TV shows? The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. His favorite magazine? The New Yorker.

Yeah, and I remember that hard-hitting piece that Politico did on brainwashed 13 year-olds in the liberal SF Bay area.
Oh, wait. No, I don't. They never did one.
That would be my guess as well.
That totally reminds me of that very short-lived TV show from CBS, Kid Nation. Season 2 was canceled, ostensibly due to "child labor laws." That is funny.
What was not funny is the basic premise, and the proof, as things progressed, that immaturity is real and pervasive, all encompassing and independent of chronological age. The liberal promoters of the show panicked.
I recorded all episodes because I could not believe my eyes when the show was first announced. Surely, some insanity was involved in creating the concept. The one factor never mentioned in the demise of the show, was the alarming similarity in the behavior of actual children, and the current Democrat party. That probably left a mark!
I remember when the Buffalo schools implemented some change to the dress code and the local media went out and interviewed students to get their opinions. And then reported, with a straight face, the little beggars' displeasure as if we should care.
So when did CPAC turn conservative?
Don’t know about conservatives, but CPAC doesn’t seem to have any.
This kid makes me cringe. I’ve never seen the speech, but now i’ll take a look at it and see what I think about it. but i’d like to say this: I was a conservative when i was 7, I’m a conservative now, probably even stronger of one now. This numbskull will eventually change (let’s hope) again. I’m sick and tired of the move towards normalizing the decadence that is homosexuality. does anyone have any idea how to combat this?
