After a Google search, much to my surprise, there is very little reference to the video that starred Kato Kaelin as the jealous lover stalking and murdering his woman with a knife (a knife that closely fits the dimensions that were determined by the investigators to have been used by O.J. to almost decapitate Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown). From the best that I can find, there is but one blurry picture that was captured from that video.
It was sometime in 1993 I believe, I was starting one of the earliest Karaoke shows in one of my towns local pubs. There were a limited number of quality CDG libraries to choose from at the time, Sound Choice and DKK Karaoke being two of the largest. I found an obscure distributor owned by a Japanese company operating out of Southern California that was offering a fairly large song collection recorded in VHS format, so I ordered their complete library of tapes.
Anyway, although over the next couple years, not a thought was given when the local vocal superstar wannabes requested Delilah. That may be too harsh, as some did a respectable job, although its hard to compete with Tom Jones.
When the O.J. Trial began sometime in 1995, I wasnt glued to the TV, but noticed one day that a guy giving testimony looked very familiar. Didnt take long for me to realize that it was the guy portraying the murderer on the Karaoke song Delilah. There was much talk about the missing knife, etc, so I watched as the forensic expert described what he thought the missing knife might look like. Seemed to be a match from the one used on the Kato video.
I also heard testimony that Kato and O.J. would sit around and watch TV together and share clips with each other that they had participated in. I believe that this tape may have helped give birth to the plan to murder Nicole. I can imagine the TINY mind of Simpson listening to the words of the song and watching the visual on the tape of Kato slashing away at his victim who he thought had betrayed him by being with another man after they had broke off their relationship. Amazingly the scene of the video was very similar to the surroundings of the area where Nicole lived very weird!
I did contact Marcia Clark and others, sending them screen captures of what I had found. There was never a reply. I even sent samples to the Enquirer and the Globe and offered this information to them for free if it would somehow bring evidence forth during the trial. No return calls. The only one that I spoke with that showed an interest was Nicoles sister Denise, whom I had a few telephone conversations with and she told me that she would contact an attorney with the pictures I sent her. Never heard any follow up on that either. My thinking has always been that agreement was made before the trial that O.J. would walk.
Anyway, being that nobody had an interest when the trial was live, I thought that I would share these with FR WAY after the fact.
LYRICS FOR DELILAH:
I saw the light on the night that I passed by her window I saw the flickering shadows of love on her blind She was my woman As she decieved me I watched and went out of my mind My, my, my, Delilah Why, why, why, Delilah I could see that girl was no good for me But I was lost like a slave that no man could free At break of day when that man drove away, I was waiting I cross the street to her house and she opened the door She stood there laughing I felt the knife in my hand and she laughed no more My, my, my Delilah Why, why, why Delilah So before they come to break down the door Forgive me Delilah I just couldnt take any more (insert trumpet solo here) She stood there laughing I felt the knife in my hand and she laughed no more My, my, my, Delilah Why, why, why, Delilah So before they come to break down the door Forgive me Delilah I just couldnt take any more Forgive me Delilah I just couldnt take any more
The prosecution had a slam dunk, air tight, take-it-to-the-bank case based on direct evidence. Introducing extraneous issues like this was more likely to cloud the issue, even if Judge Ito allowed it.
No fair jury could possibly have acquitted OJ.
I agree with you
They had so much physical evidence and concurrent suspicious behavior, guilty behavior, circumstancial, etc.
Who would have thought they needed anything speculative like this? I’m not knocking it, I think it’s a good point. But you wouldn’t include it, even if you were allowed which isn’t guaranteed, because you have so much more and so much better.
The jury simply nullified the overwhelming case you had.
The defense made it about Mark Fuhrman testifying incorrectly about NEVER saying the n word, and about whether a glove fit or not, in the courtroom, not under actual conditions.
It became about race, about celebrity and about paying back “the Man” (the cops, the system and “whitey”).
Actually, if they had introduced that video, the jury would have convicted. They would have convicted Kato.
Let’s ask Judge Roberts.
