Oh if Charles Lane says so...

But since we are going to appeal to people who are paid to pontificate, then here's the Wall Street Journal Editorial Board.

In the process, Chief Justice Roberts has hollowed out dual federal-state sovereignty and eviscerated the very limit on the Commerce Clause that he posits elsewhere in his opinion and that has some conservatives singing his praises. From now on, Congress can simply regulate interstate commerce by imposing "taxes" whenever someone does or does not do something contrary to its desires.

Did you see the discussion on Free Republic on “pleonasm” yesterday? Maybe it could be word of the day one of these days. Can’t remember what thread prompted it.

ple·o·nasm (pl -n z m). n. 1. a. The use of more words than are required to express an idea; redundancy. b. An instance of pleonasm.

I started to write that but figured no one else on this thread watched the show and would just wonder what in the world was wrong with me! lol

Oh man, I just looked up some KP quotes and there isn't a single one I can post here... lol they made me laugh but they are all filthy.

What’s it all about?

Watched the Dr. Who with the weeping angels and River Song. I do think the idea of a time traveler interacting with another character in a different timeline is interesting. Not sure about the way this particular character treats the Doctor.

That she looks like Bette Midler doesn’t help either.

First of all for all my admiration of Mr.Denninger, you and I both know that the power to tax is already absolute, subject only to political pressure.

Go back and look at the near confiscatory rates prior to Reagan...Telling congress, If It look like a tax, it walks like a tax, and it quacks like a tax, it’s a tax...covers new ground only in so far, that they’re being served notice, that the type of shenannigans they’e been pulling are over.

A blow for transparency, and makes the political process more honest.Hard to see that as a bad thing...

Liberals have been getting away with (as in this very stark example) this kind of thing for decades.

FCOL, SCOTUS has already ruled the Social(ist In)security is in fact a tax, and an IOU.... As is Medicare/OASDI. Or the Gore tax.

What limits do you see ?

Only what can be afforded political cover.

Roberts, as Lane and others have described dealt serious blows, to the left, whose effects will be felt in this election, and well beyond.

That’s the way it’s supposed to be.

Taxation, is an open, political event..And the WSJ EB notwithstanding, my point is rigidly enforced, by the WH in full damage control lying to the American people yesterday.

All the taxes I just mentioned above, are basically theft...and for CJ Roberts ministrations about the court enforcing that line for 225 years, SSI,OASDI,and GORETAX, give lie to that claim.

And lastly, not taking Charles lane as Gospel, just pointing out that when you take the sum total of the results
of what he did, it looks very cynical, and very cunning.

And on the other four, I would almost suspect that given the bile Scalia likes to spew at cases like this, they’re in this together.

You NEVER get leaks like that to multiple outlets. (The one from CBS wrote an article, and that dimbulb from the CSM also claimed to have spoken to them...did they have a news conference?)

In one minor stroke, they have now undone all that SCOFLA inflicted on them in 2000.

With zero downside. (And that’s his job too).

It’s about a sheriff in Wyoming dealing with small town and Indian reservation issues. Lou Diamond Phillips, playing his friend, is in his best role since La Bamba.

I like this one:

Terrence Cutler: There’s something you need to know, Kenny. You’re not the only athlete here at Jeff Davis. I happen to be training for a Triathlon right now. Doin’ a lot of running, and cycling, swimming. Well you know all about that.

Kenny Powers: No actually I don’t. I do SPORTS. Not try to be the best at exercising.

Worrying about Bush v Gore?

Seriously, that’s a symptom of BCS. Battered Conservative Syndrome.

Also, the 4 conservatives are so disgusted they even ignored Robert’s opinion.

Do you mean to contend that a 5/4 Thursday, would not have ginned up the 12 year run on the court that BvG birthed?

(Look, we’re still getting Citizens United in this cycle).

As I said, I suspect they’re in on the joke. The total @$$ pounding the left takes in this decision, says so.

How are you going to feel, when the states are freed from the Voting Rights Act sec.%, and AA is repudiated. Or this law gets overturned on 1st Amendment grounds.

Or Repealed, because the Republicans (who are inept enough on their own) get to run on the Tax and Spend paradigm.

Half the Conservative moment is having a Forest/Trees moment.

I am 4-5 episodes into the 5th season now. Matt Smith is the Doctor now and Amy his companion.

River Song has been in 2 episodes, the one in the library and the one with the angels where they had to go through the catacombs.

The fact that she seems so familiar with the Doctor and doesn’t treat him with reverance is different. Like she’s his wife, as Amy put it.

their relationship is going backwards - sounds strange but consider the show. she is moving backwards in time and he forward - their relationship was also featured in earlier series with other men playing the Doctor
