Good evening ladies, I have been checking out todays posts and see there was double posting problems. I just don’t get it, I thought Jim a=was getting new servers to help with the overload.

Hope and Pray all is well. This morning Mrs Mayor and I went and witnessed one of our friends get Baptized. It was a wonderful and exciting sight to see.

Thank you for all your great posts today and always.

What a wonderful sight, to see a friend be Baptized, Rus!

I hope (and pray every night), that things are going better for your business. And, I ‘send’ and pray Romans 8:26 for you - God Bless you and your family.

The ‘server’ problem seems only to happen on Sundays.....and it is very frustrating, as I love to absorb all the posts, then. (I don’t think it is an accident anymore - as it almost always happens on Sundays.)

Speech Study

July 16, 2012

Dr. Deb Roy, a researcher and cognitive scientist with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, recorded the first 3 years of his child’s life to learn how humans acquire language. He and his wife rigged their home with recording devices, which they used to collect over 200,000 hours of audio and video footage. Amassing, condensing, and editing the recordings enabled them to hear baby sounds like “gaga” evolve into words like “water.”

If someone wanted to conduct a research project at your home, would you participate if you knew that your every syllable would be recorded and analyzed? What would the study reveal? Proverbs 18 offers insight about some unwise speech patterns. The writer notes that foolish people express their own opinions instead of trying to understand what others have to say (v.2). Does this characterize us? Do we sometimes provoke fights with our words (v.7), or speak impulsively and “answer a matter before [hearing] it”? (v.13).

We need to become students of our speech. With God’s help we can identify and transform destructive dialogue into words of encouragement that are “good for necessary edification” and that “impart grace to the hearers” (Eph. 4:29).

Take my voice and let me sing
Always, only, for my King;
Take my lips and let them be
Filled with messages for Thee. —Havergal
Our words have the power to build up or tear down.

Read: Proverbs 18:1-15

Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth. —Ephesians 4:29

” ...
I thought of Moses’ words to God’s people as they prepared to enter the Promised Land: “You shall remember that the Lord your God led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not” (Deut. 8:2).

Pastor and author Eugene Peterson called the process of following Christ “a long obedience in the same direction.” Every resolution to begin to obey must be followed by many decisions to continue.

Indeed, our entire life is lived as in the wilderness. It simple looks different, yet the irritations and complaints are basically the same. Distractions and temptations are all around us daily. Yield not! Forgive us LORD. We know not what we do. Have mercy on thy children, forgive us our sins, in Jesus name, amen.

The first churches were in homes. Today we are encouraged to have small group Bible studies in our homes. Reading the Bible daily is important to learning about the LORD. To know Him, to serve Him ... it is important to know HIM.

Memorize verses. In time of need we might not have a Bible available. If we know His verses we can hold on to them ... very important. What if we were in a catastrophe situation and were alone with a few non believers? What then? Be prepared, we do not know when we will need them. As recently happened to our members of this thread. God is available and is a healer of our wounds. Learn of HIM. God bless.

GEORGEOUS, JC! And perfectly matching frame!

We have cloudy skies, too - but I don’t think it is going to rain here. We’ve had rain for three days, now - and my trees and lawn are so happy! Stay dry

Send the rain on to Wisconsin!

Wells are drying up here. Not mine yet, but others.

Next chance for rain is Wednesday.

cheers

The Bayer 3 in 1 is the best to take care of those pesky diseases and bugs, but you have to do it when you prune for the spring at root base, and keep it up every month, not every 3 months like it says. I’ve also sprayed the entire bed, but concentrate it on the bush’s root base.

GOOD MILITARY MONDAY TO AMY’S PLACE!

The Soldier’s Code

1) I am an American fighting man. I serve in the forces which guard my country and our way of life. I am prepared to give my life in their defense.

2) I will never surrender of my own free will. If in command, I will never surrender my men while they still have the means to resist.

3) If I am captured, I will continue to resist by all means available. I will make every effort to escape and aid others to escape. I will accept neither parole nor special favors from the enemy.

4) If I become a prisoner of war, I will keep faith with my fellow prisoners. I will give no information or take part in any action which might be harmful to my comrades. If I am senior, I will take command. If not, I will obey the lawful orders of those appointed over me, and will back them up in every way.

5) When questioned, should I become a prisoner of war, I am bound to give only name, rank, service number, and date of birth. I will evade answering further questions to the utmost of my ability. I will make no oral or written statements disloyal to my country and its allies, or harmful to their cause.

6) I will never forget that I am an American fighting man, responsible for my actions, and dedicated to the principles which made my country free. I will trust in my God and in the United States of America.

President Dwight D. Eisenhower, August, 1955.

Genuflectimus non ad principem sed ad Principem Pacis!

Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)

Thank you, Conor!

it is rather the vital necessity

I remember memorizing “The Soldier’s Code” in Boot Camp.

Thanks for posting it each Military Monday, Conor.
