In other words, a Civil War III. The first two (1776 and 1861) were based on economics, as well.
But it wouldn’t be anything like a civil war and its unlikely a shot would be fired. The only states that would likely side with the feds would be Northeast and west coast states with Illinois maybe.
If you get enough states trading among themselves while refusing to collect federal taxes, the feds would quickly find themselves wanting to sit down at the bargaining table. There is a lot of wealth in this country and the feds use it for control but seizing control of our wealth would drive change in a hurry.
