In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
subitize \SOO-bi-tahyz\, verb
To perceive at a glance the number of items presented.
Example sentences:
Below seven the subjects were said to subitize; above seven they were said to estimate.
-- H. Gutfreund and G. Toulouse, Biology and Computation: A Physicist's Choice
I wanted to see if Pedro could subitize, so I asked, Pedro, how many stars are in the first circle?
-- Melissa Conklin, It Makes Sense!
Etymology:
Subitize comes from the Latin word subitāre which meant "to appear suddenly".
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

WFB's attempt to emulate us ; ) No pushing at the door please!
I want to smash it over the heads of my moron friends that think this is a great day.
Come January 1st they’ll figure it out, but then it will be too late.
Ah the land of Clark and Hubbard. Trying places in deed. Maybe you should check out a Catholic church not in the Roman Rite. There's probably a nice Byzantine one near you.
“I am less willing to tolerate BS on any level”
I smile and say I’m really not so patient as I once was-in public. In private, that becomes what you said, and worse-I’ve developed a really low tolerance for sheer stupidity...
A+ for you!
Thank you!
Everyone has redeeming qualities and many people change over time. I am less tolerant of nonsense. Just because they have some good qualities(and who doesn’t?), doesn’t mean I want to be around them because, most of the time, they are outweighed by the other and as I’ve said before, we have less and less in common. Different strokes for different folks, cue Sly Stone.
When I have listened to/heard about someone like your neighbor exhibiting their selfishness and lack of common decency, I whisper may God punish him/her/them as I walk away. I learned that from an aunt who used to do it-it may not be the nicest thing to say, but it is nicer than what people like that do all the time. I tend to be a rather unforgiving latin type.

A+ for you, F- for the dictator who writes his own law.
Robert legislated from the bench. Unconstitutional. WHO has power to correct this?
Lmao! Combination of impatience, fr slowness and an iPad!!!
You rang? ROR!
I was going to post something along these lines, when I got home, only to find Dr. Krauthammer said it better.

at the end of the day, Roberts helped reign in the Federal Government, hung a big stinky turd on Obama, by calling it a tax, and saved the bickering over the courts makeup, when the next President may appoint 2 more Justices.
