You Do have my sympathy that your child is in the spot they’re in and you are in the spot you’re in because of it.

Genetics? It’s above. Nothing there. and since there’s Nothing to the genetic ruse then there’s Nothing to the Chemical Brain Imbalance ruse either.

No.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Edison
Edison is the fourth most prolific inventor in history, holding 1,093 US patents in his name, as well as many patents in the United Kingdom, France, and Germany.
In school, the young Edison’s mind often wandered, and his teacher, the Reverend Engle, was overheard calling him “addled”. This ended Edison’s three months of official schooling.
Edison would be diagnosed and drugged today in a heartbeat, 1,093 patents.
Medically Sick? Not hardly.
ADHD is not a medical disease and trying to drug it into submission is a horrible mistake.
The boy killed by ADHD treatment on that site was diagnosed as having a medical disorder based on a 5 minute pencil twirling trick.
“And I consider mental illness to be very medical.”
So does the nation’s largest patient advocacy group, NAMI.

81% of their financial support if from the makers of mental illness drugs, and the finances of most other support groups, like DBSA, tells a similar story and agenda.
Like I said you do have my sympathy but drugs are not going to fix your child or actually help your child. Follow the money.
Except that for every statistical outlier like the one you cite, there are hundreds who are legitimately helped by medication.
I’m one. I was diagnosed late, at the end of my Sophomore year in high school. I was put on Ritalin, after extensive testing and observation. It made an incredible difference. I went from C and D grades to all A. I was way more attentive in class and much more able to plan and schedule myself. I took 10mg of Ritalin in the morning and 10 at lunch. I am now a successful, well-adjusted senior IT executive.
Oh, and did I mention this was back in the 1980s, long before ADD became “trendy”? It may be overdiagnosed now, but there are still legitimate cases, and the drugs work. I was never “tweaking” when I took it; I reacted to the drug very differently than someone who doesn’t have the condition would.
