An article by Michael O'Brien on MSNBC's First Read this morning quotes an "informal" advisor to Mitt Romney's campaign as saying that the presidential candidate is not likely to choose a woman as his running mate because Sarah Palin "poisoned the well" for women, with the possible exception of New Hampshire freshman Sen. Kelly Ayotte.

The Palmetto Scoop reported: "One of the first stories to hit the national airwaves was the claim of a major internal strife between close McCain aides and the folks handling his running mate Sarah Palin." "Im told by very good sources that this was indeed the case and that a rift had developed, but it was between Palins people and the staffers brought on from the failed presidential campaign of former Gov. Mitt Romney, not McCain aides." "The sources said nearly 80 percent of Romneys former staff was absorbed by McCain and these individuals were responsible for what amounts to a premeditated, last-minute sabotage of Palin."
aides loyal to Romney inside the McCain campaign, said The Scoop, reportedly saw that Palin would be a serious contender for the Republican nomination in 2012 or 2016, which made her a threat to another presidential quest by Romney.
So you condemn rumors about Palin and believe rumors about Romney?
So far as I can find out "Palmetto Scoop" is Adam Fogle who worked for Richard Quinn's consultancy firm MMS. MMS worked for McCain in South Carolina.
Romney engaged the rival firm, TTS Strategies, during his primary campaign back then. Getting a rumor out about a competitor would have been very much in Fogle's and Quinn's interest.
We don't know if there was actually anything behind the rumor. There were enough core McCain people angry at Palin, enough Palin people angry at McCain, and enough people angry at Romney that any number of things may have been going on.

Since there is no named source for this statement it may just be disinformation spread by the media to discourage conservatives and boost Obama’s reelection chances.

I’ll take this with a HUGE grain of salt. I wouldn’t put it past the LEFT to try a divide and conquer move here to split the camps. It’s soooooo like them.

Rumors? The GOP Establishment hates Sarah Palin. McCain and Romney are both card-carrying members of the GOP Establishment. Johm McCain was so arrogant, so sure-fire dedicated to maintaining his “Maverick” moniker, that he chose Palin just to prove he was his own man.
I don’t hink McCain had a clue as to what Palin stood for. He surely had no idea how to use her. She rescued his faltering campaign.
Romney and his bots (who are GOP Establishment all the way) KNEW that Palin would be the person to beat in 2012. Romney and the entire GOP Establishment went after Palin with a vengeance, knowing that they had to do everything they could to marginalize her ASAP because she WOULD be the nominee, not Mitt, in 2012.
The only reason I will vote for Romney it to vote against Obama.

Michael Savage said it best about Mitt:” A cotten man in a nice suit”.
Mitt is a weather vane. Just pointing where the wind blows. No real direction, just spinning.
What a sorry state of affairs.

Limbaugh said today that little marko is destined to be president. Im not for that at all.Boy latey my gut is telling me he isn't ready for primetime, here is why...
He is a great speaker but lately he is too slick by 1/2, much like all the financial taking heads on CNBC during the financial porn haydays of 98',99'.....
Until he becomes a Governor, I am not interested. That is the Executive Farm Team IMHO We have had so many Presidents that weren't Governor's that sucked, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, and now Obama, not again thank you...

It’s Romney’s team MO to attack Sarah with anonymous sources which they have done before so the burden of proof should be on Romney and his people to prove this wrong since they have used this tactic since 2008 in attacking and sabotaging Sarah even when she was on the ticket which we got legit reporters saying it was so

Sorry, FRiend, but there is a MULTIPLICITY of source
corroborating misogynist Romney's attacks on Gov. Palin
AND HER CHILDREN through surrogates.
Romney is despicable and NEVER apologized.
And by the way, ROmneyBOT, THE BASTARD BACKSTABBER ROMNEY
has done this over and over and over.
Novak: "Fred Thompson drop-out rumors traced to Romney campaign"
Said Novak: "The rumors were traced in part to Mitt Romney's campaign,
trying to stir up strife between McCain and Thompson."
"Despite outspending his rivals by huge margins throughout the primaries,
(Mitt Romney, Carpetbagger UT,CA,MA,NH,Mexico) lost Iowa, South Carolina, Florida and California.
The only primaries he won were in Michigan, where Dad was governor; LDS states;
and a few states on Super Tuesday in which his California-obsessed rivals
couldn't spare the cash to advertise.
Only John Connolly in 1968 had a worse cash-to-delegates ratio.
And John McCain rightly did not like Romney's tactics during the primaries.
(W)hen (Romney's early leads) started slipping away, he resorted to unfair,
distorted, scorched-earth negative ads, betting that his opponents couldn't
afford to spend enough for the truth to catch up to his charges."

They do not represent the people anymore than Democrats.
