An article by Michael O'Brien on MSNBC's First Read this morning quotes an "informal" advisor to Mitt Romney's campaign as saying that the presidential candidate is not likely to choose a woman as his running mate because Sarah Palin "poisoned the well" for women, with the possible exception of New Hampshire freshman Sen. Kelly Ayotte.

Some of us haven’t forgotten.
MSNBC/NBC speak: “informal advisor”
English translation: “We just make this crap up. Who’s gonna check it? You?”
The GOP poisoned the well with McLame and Romney. Palin is a shining light.
Consider the source....MSNBC. What better way to sew discord among conservative than to divide and conquer. I’ll believe this was said when I hear it, not when MSNBC says they heard it.
Hmmm. I like that theory ....
They are still shakin’ in their boots whenever her name is mentioned. Saw a poll, not official, where Palin had a 60+% approval rating, recently. THAT is why they are still attacking. Palin has the good ground, though, at the top of the hill. Which is why Romney can’t replace her yet, no one else comes close.
I’m not all wobbly-knee’d about the state of America, and though I have always voted republican, the Romney camp better think again. I’m not scared to let them down.
Can’t honestly think of an other reason to be doubling down on the snark along about now.
Given this is from MSNBC, it should be considered disinformation.
FUMR
Up Yours ORomney Brown-nose.
Sarah has more conservatism in her little toe than Willard does in his whole Democrat-lite body.
Sarah Palin she was right then and she is right now.
Romneyite backstabbers trying to revise history PING!
Generally yes, but Romney people have a history of undercutting Palin. It’s quite possible.
Then again, the ‘unnamed source” thing is an old reporter trick to editorialize. That ‘source’ likely sits in the next cubicle.
Having worked in the media I assure you it happens often.
I’d say no, FUMR, Sarah is poisoning YOUR well with conservatives in Congress and everywhere else that YOU are too chickenshit to want to deal with.
Put salt into wounds, aren't we? Thank you, GOP.
Kelly Ayotte? Why her? I haven’t seen her do anything to get that consideration. Frankly, I thought she’s been somewhat underwhelming.
If I were Milt, I’d tell my “advisors” that they better STFU! Right now, I’m going to hold my nose and vote for the GOP presidential candidate in November. I’ll shower good when I get home. However, this kind of bull**** WILL keep me home on election day. SHUT THE FLUKE UP AND DON’T PISS ME OFF ANY MORE THAN I ALREADY AM! JMO!
So, is this Romney trying to make sure I sit this one out, or is it NBC trying to make sure I sit this one out?
Oh, that’s good. Get a “freshman” Senator. That’ll show ‘em you’re serious about someone with executive experience.
I thought Sarah was and is absolutely brilliant. Romney’s comment makes no sense
