It’s a fluff class for a college engineering program. No place in the curriculum.
Nesmith is a hoot.
“You should be even more scared if youre driving the Caddy ,, this is a 62 ,,, an X frame GM ... infamous for ripping in half in accidents and throwing front and rear passengers out on the road... too damn cheap to run frame rails down the outsides.”
I knew that they had some structural problems in that era
didn’t know what it was. I grew up with the boys who’s
family ran the local Mopar dealership so I was much more
familiar with them. I remember when they banned the old
Imperials from demo-derbies around here. Now THAT was a tank!
I grew up in a Chevy family, and never imagined I'd one day own a Cadillac, let alone three, but I did.
'75 two door Coupe De Ville - a bomber when I picked it up for $150 in 1987, but it had clean paint and body. I got that baby humming in no time at all, for pocket change and some elbow grease.
'81 two door Coupe De Ville - a very sweet used ride. I traded the '75 for it in 1988. That thing was simply a dream.
'84 two door Coupe De Ville - Immaculate. Stunning looks. Had a design flawed engine, though. Cast iron block with aluminum heads. If I'd known about the GM recall on it, I could have had the heads changed out for nothing, but I found out about it the week the recall ended. Shoot!
For a while, my friends thought I was nuts, because I kept the '81 after buying the '84 four years later. I'd trade off driving them, just so they both got usage. Eventually, I sold the '81 to a buddy who was in love with it.
I just may buy another Caddie after the kids are older. Love those cars.
