Not to detract from the tragic nature of this story but taco trucks are all over southern California. Basically, a large van where one side opens into a veranda with a propane grill inside. They show up to workplaces and cook up the most outstanding Mexican food I've ever eaten (in addition to burgers, sandwiches, fried foods and whatnot).
There were two of them that worked the rounds at NAS North Island while I was stationed there. I often joked that the burritos were made with crack because they were so addictive! Now that I'm back in Florida, taco trucks are one of the things I miss most from my days in San Diego.
They where called the roach couch at several of the bases I was on over twenty years in the navy. No tacos but the polish sausage on a bun with sauerkraut, HHMMM.
