A suspected drunk driver leading police on a pursuit caused a deadly crash when her car collided into a taco truck.
California Highway Patrol noticed the driver weaving in and out of lanes on the eastbound 10 Freeway around 11 p.m. Saturday.
The female driver continued to drive after officers attempted to pull her over, eventually taking the pursuit to the 5 Freeway.
She then exited at Cesar Chavez Avenue, and, ignoring traffic signs, drove through a parking lot and into a crowded taco truck.
Two people standing outside the truck were hit and later pronounced dead.
One of the victims, 19, leaves behind a 1-year-old baby.
"[The driver] came off the freeway and hit my daughter and tore her apart," her emotional mother said.
The other victim, who has also not been identified, is a woman in her late 30s.

I’m a fool to continue posting on a thread like this.
The phrase “Pearls before swine” comes to mind.
I’m buoyed by the knowledge that the intellectually intact can see my logic. Bye.
There is just no easy way to elevate IQ....sigh...
Also your logic is not solid. Obviously there are many folks who drink and drive and get to their destination. To assume they are safe is silly. There are many hit and runs that leave damage to others property (if not their life). Allowing the drunk to drive is like leaving a bomb a=on the road that set is set to go off-— you just don’t know when.
Now maybe where you live and work there aren’t that many drunks that drive. In So Cal there are not only a lot of them but a lot of them have no license (either illegal or previous DUIs). Every community debates the chase response and comes to what is best for them. In this part of southern California high speed chases are a daily ‘sport” (mores the shame)
I am sympathetic to you and all other officers of the law who have to operate under rules that can get you killed. My hats off to you for your service.
ANd enjoy your perfection
Sorry that us mere mortals do not see the wisdom of your ways
MADD = sad.
Employ common sense my FRiend.
Your heart is right, your logic is flawed.
You are capable of better than this, you are on Free Republic after all, that is a very good point in favor of your continued improvement.
I came home in a big city a 1:00am Friday (not drinking) and from the in-lane weaving & delayed reaction times I saw, at least 50% of the other drivers were DUI.
A Taco Truck is a Roach Coach that serves mexican food. One of the best burritos I have ever had was off a taco truck.
And “Roach Coach” is not a bad thing...it’s a nickname.
Funny... in Fl we have barbecue roach coaches on every corner.. $5.00 on weds for ribs, mac and I cheese, and potato salad... who said people need to be on welfare. They make more than I...
If they decide to rabbit, then all consequences land on them, NOT the agency attempting the stop.
Horse hockey. The paramilitaries could have sent a SWAT team to her house, and shot her dog, if it would have made them feel more manly.
That way we wouldn't have two dead innocent bystanders. If they had her info, it's THEIR fault.
Yeah, Heinrich Müller would have creamed himself to have had aerial drone capability...
I swear that some of the Law & Order FReepers who watched Clinton and Sandy Berger and Charlie Rangel and Jon Corzine walk would love to have a one-to-one law enforcement ratio.
A Free Republic is not about having a cop on every corner.
Assuming the converse is flawed logic.
The woman driver just got introduced to The Big Money-Sucking Legal Machine.
I suspect that Molon knows that of which he speaks.
Yes, I've seen you post on these matters before, which is why I called Nif on it.
Dude, don't use DUmpster logic (The Art of The Tear-Jerking Anecdote).
Panzerfaust traffic stops FTW!!!
It's the siren song of The American Police State. Odysseus was wise to have himself bound to the mast...
“Even with two counts of vehicular homicide I doubt the death penalty is legal in California.”
Drunk drivers have been charged with murder in California.
The death penalty is legal in California.
Google is useful, when in doubt instead of just guessing.
Nif, your posts are getting more worthless as the thread progresses. Molon is the LEO. I’m pretty sure Bobalu is not (he has fame of other sorts here on FR. Yeah, some of us remember, Bobalu).
I acknowledged Molon’s service.
