I had the good fortune to see the Beach Boys just a few weeks ago and when they sang Surfin’ USA (also California Girls) the crowd went wild and stated dancing in the isles.
Great list.

That is one bullseye of a list! You must be the same age as me and Rush: born in 1951. Your list is the soundtrack to all that we witnessed that makes our nation so special in so many ways. And don’t forget Sgt Pepper came out the day school let out in 1967 to kick off THAT summer.

Beach Baby is a great song. The lead singer, Tony Burrows, is one of the biggest selling unknown singers of all time. In 1970, Burrows sold eight million records under four different group names: Edison Lighthouse (”Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes)”), White Plains (”My Baby Loves Lovin’”), the Brotherhood of Man (”United We Stand”) and The Pipkins (”Gimme Dat Ding”). During one episode of the BBC TV show Top of the Pops, Burrows appeared with three of those groups.

Summer, by War... a great summer song. A perfect song to crank up in a convertible as you cruise down the road on those glorious country roads. I love the extended album version. (Can be found on You Tube!)
Also, All Summer Long, by the Beach Boys!
