I had the good fortune to see the Beach Boys just a few weeks ago and when they sang Surfin’ USA (also California Girls) the crowd went wild and stated dancing in the isles.
Great list.

A couple of cuts on the Beach Boys’ new album definitely belong on this list!

We got my parents tickets to see them Wednesday! They loved the concert and can’t stop talking about it!

“You must be older than me...... (grin...)”

I am the youngest of four - my brother is 9 years older, my sisters 8 and 7 years older - so I was exposed to a lot of pop music from their era.

That is one bullseye of a list! You must be the same age as me and Rush: born in 1951. Your list is the soundtrack to all that we witnessed that makes our nation so special in so many ways. And don’t forget Sgt Pepper came out the day school let out in 1967 to kick off THAT summer.

Beach Baby is a great song. The lead singer, Tony Burrows, is one of the biggest selling unknown singers of all time. In 1970, Burrows sold eight million records under four different group names: Edison Lighthouse (”Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes)”), White Plains (”My Baby Loves Lovin’”), the Brotherhood of Man (”United We Stand”) and The Pipkins (”Gimme Dat Ding”). During one episode of the BBC TV show Top of the Pops, Burrows appeared with three of those groups.

So your oldest brother was born in 1942 just as mine was, but my oldest sister was born in 1940. Then you have 2 other sibs born in 1943 & 44. My other were 1945 and 48. (I also have 4 younger ones!)

I know it's jazz, but Summer Nights by Miles Davis and Gil Evans is one of the most evocative summer sensual songs you will ever hear.
