So the fight was started by Spartak Karabedian and all the guests were sporting knives in the brawl.

According to another article, Spartek bought a restaurant, where a fight broke out during a memorial birthday service a couple years ago. Six people were shot in that fight, and four died.

So Spartek was trying to convince people in the Armenian community that it was safe to go back to his restaurant and they shouldn't expect anymore violence.

Spartek is going to have a tougher time making his case. As they say in Goodfellas "real greaseball shit." That's what all this is. Meatheads.

If that is the same Spartak Karabedian of Van Nuys, he owns (owned?) a cafe in North Hollywood, where some of his buddies were killed by another of his buddies in April, 2010—but he wasn’t there. He bought it after it closed because of the shootings; he didn’t own it then. If it is the same Spartak Karabedian of Van Nuys, he was also arrested in Glendale last November—occupation listed as “car broker”—for narcotics possession, grand theft by access card fraud, and identity theft.
