The ‘Flame’ stuff scared me. Since I’m not doing IT 24/7 like I used to, am I going to be able to easily get boxes that aren’t Microsoft signed, or will you be forced to pay a $99 Microsoft tax every time you reconfigure a box?

Boxes are all going to have UEFI instead of the traditional BIOS we are all used to. At least, the Windows 8-certified boxes will. Probably more than that as well.

However, MS relented earlier and the lockdown will be optional, so you won't have to pay anything.
