The ever so modest Phillip Phillips won "American Idol" Wednesday night, and while some say it was well deserved others have insisted that the show is "rigged." After the Georgia hometown boy won "American Idol" Wednesday night, many came forward and insisted that that enough was enough on the singing show, which according to some is clearly "racist."
"[In the] last 3 in finals, one was black, who was the best singer, one was brown who was also great singer, one was white who was a karaoke singer; guess who won, the white one of course, when will America stop being racist?" RRedBird commented on Yahoo.
Other news publications also pointed out that Phillips is the fifth consecutive white person to win in a row. The New York Times suggested that perhaps the cause was a fault of voters.
"Mr. Phillips is the fifth fundamentally sensitive white male singer in a row to win the show, a fact probably indicative more of stagnation in the 'Idol' voting base than in a resurgent interest in tepidity," reporter Jon Caramanica wrote.
It has been pointed out however, that more often than not, those who are successful on "American Idol" are most often from the south.

2012 is the last season I'll watch this crap.
I am proud to say that I have never watched a single episode of American Idol. Snotty judges and multiple votes by viewers turned me off.
“Racism” - still an active trump card when things don’t go your way.
I didn’t watch Idol this year, but from what I overheard when my wife watched - the “talent” this year was generally thinner. Between these two finalists, the young lady was probably more talented (and pretty as well). But we also have to remember - American Idol is determined by “votes” cast by SMS message and phone calls - by teenagers and a lot of Obama voters. So the winner is not necessarily a reflection of the most qualified or “best”... after all, the same kind of “voters” gave us BHO...
I never watched AI until I glimpsed the Phillips kid.
He deserved it.
The dude is channeling Joe Cocker and Jack the Ripper, simultaneously.
[I’d hit it]

NEWS FLASH......Perhaps this reflects the mood of the country.
I liked the show better back when it was called “The Gong Show.”
I miss the unknown comic don’t you?
And was it just me or was Jaye P Morgan hot?!
Freegards

Girls aren’t going to vote for another great girl singer when a good-looking, charming male is in the mix. Sexual attraction stole the show! These girls will be future Obama voters!
Seriously, I didn’t even AI was still on nor were the finals on last night until you posted it. I’m tired of this white liberals and their white liberal guilt, and these are the same ass clowns who don’t even have a single non-white friends in their circle.
So Randy Jackson and Jennifer Lopez were being racist when they gave him a standing ovation and called him Brilliant for his last song before the voting began? Just asking.
I miss Gene Gene the Dancing Machine.
I watch American Idol’s first two or three shows each season just to hear folks who think they can sing but cannot. It is fun and makes me feel a little better about myself. Once ther competition gets “serious” I seldom watch it.

Well, whites dominate in engineering, the health professions, business, accounting, actuarial work and pretty much any field that requires actual challenging knowledge and rigorous licensing standards.
What do the openly racist “news publications” have to say about that?
I was a huge Aerosmith fan back in the day, but now this flaming fool creeps me out
They should do like the people in charge of undergraduate admissions at UC Berkeley—have a rule that no more than 1/3 of the winners can be non-Hispanic whites.
On the flip side, you ever notice that white women don’t win beauty pageants anymore?
Well, I’m offended by the racial mix of the contestants on The Price is Right.
I can’t help but notice that black and hispanic contestants are picked in much higher percentages than their numbers in the audience.
Asians and whites are underrepresented.
Where do I complain?
Other news publications also pointed out that Phillips is the fifth consecutive white person to win in a row.But they were all Cherokee Indians (mythically speaking).
"I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" was the last straw for me. Who would have thought back in 1976, the same band that did "Rocks" would wind up being such sellouts?
