My current carry gun is a springfield SD .40 sub compact with night sights and a powder river trigger. It is great
As far as the mag loading issue, more and more I’ve seen new innovative products that make loading a snap. Glock includes such a device with most of their handguns.
Maybe you can find a similar tool?
I carry a 38sp 5 shot wheel gun but not accurate enough.
Same here. I’m keeping it but looking for something else.
Taurus makes a fine weapon. My night stand gun is a 6 inch bbl Taurus .357.
I tried several rigs (borrowed from friends) and did not find one that I liked for a large pistol. For the last several years I have been using a quick opening shoulder bag that looks like a camera bag. My full sized 1911 45ACP or High-power 9mm Browning Parabellum both carry well in my bag.
If yours did not then you can go to CheaperThanDirt.com (CTD) and get one for around four bucks. It is the ADCO Superthumb and works really well. I had to buy one for the PT111 Millenium Pro I bought for my wife's concealed carry gun and one for my Ruger LCP. For some reason Taurus only supplies the speed loader with the 45ACP and not the 9mm or the 40S&W ( own one of each weapon).
I tried to find one of the fancier HKS loaders at CTD but after buying four different models that did not work with my Taurus I just kept using the Taurus supplied loader.
By the way. Go on-line and find the Federal Law Enforcement 230grain Hydra-Shok cartridges. The FBI says they are still the best single shot stop bullet made, although there are many others that are almost as effective.
I got my wife a Taurus Slim 9mm. It’s small enough to conceal and has less of a kick than a .45. Define “not accurate enough” - for self-defense, if you can put all the rounds in a 9” circle (we use paper plates as targets) at 25’, it’s accurate enough. I prefer the autos because you can carry extra, pre-loaded magazines. All autos can be hard to get the last shell or two into the mag and those with the extra size magazines can be even harder to top off. I have a Kahr P-380 with 6-shot mags because it’s small enough for a pocket. At 25’ it shoots about 2-1/2” low and left, but I can adjust for it if trying to center my shots. However, in a self-defense situation it would just be point and shoot and being able to hit the body mass in a 1’ area is more than enough accuracy - I load it up with Hornady Critical Defense rounds, so a dead center hit is not required. It’s a balamnce between what you can handle comfortably and utility - only you can make the decision.
I don’t have an answer for you but I bet “Gecko45” does.
Expert in all things tactical, he makes for an interesting read: http://lonelymachines.org/mall-ninjas/
Enjoy.
