Donna Summer is no longer Working Hard For Her Money and both McFadden & Whitehead were stopped after all. MCA of Beastie Boys is no longer fighting for his right to party and Greg Ham will no longer be hamming it up with Colin Hay of Men at Work.
The madness goes on and on, Levon Helm (The Band), Dick Clark, Robbie Montrose, Davy of the Monkees went to Davy Jones Locker, Whitney Houston drowned and Don Cornelius, Don Kirshner, Jimmy Castor and now Dobie Gray has Drifted Away for good.
Yes, the Great Gig In The Sky is getting bigger all the time and Syd Barrett finally has somebody up there as crazy as him - Amy Winehouse. Hopefully the Big Man Clarence Clemons is keeping them both mesmerized and out of trouble with his sax solos.
It is insane how many rock/pop starts have passed on. Gerry Rafferty, Doug Fieger of The Knack, Dale Hawkins, Teddy Pendergrass, Isaac Hayes, Ike Turner and Juice Newton, just to name a few more who are dead, dead, dead.
John Stewart is no longer turning music into Gold and Dan Fogelberg is no longer sharing six-packs in the car with people he used to know - in the snow. Brad Delp is gone and now we have to really wait a long time for the next Boston album. 3/4 of the Mamas & Papas are dead - Denny Doherty, John Phillips and Mama Cass - who really should have given that ham sandwich to Karen Carpenter. James Brown is no longer the hardest working man in show business and the Man in Black, Johnny Cash, is no longer shooting people just to watch them die.
Barry White, John Entwistle, Rick James, Joe Strummer, most of the Ramones and half the Beatles are dead. Benjamin Orr of The Cars is driving no more. Ian Dury is gone but not sure about the Blockheads. Sonny Bono, John Denver, Frank Zappa, Warren Zevon and even Tiny Tim, poor innocent Tiny Tim, all dead, dead, dead. When will the madness end!
I’ve seen everyone of them come and go.
RIP all.
Jim Croce.
I am feeling very old tonight. I still say the 70s had the best music ever. I always tell my kids they won’t have any oldies to enjoy because they won’t be able to stand their music when they are old.
And yet Jon Bon Jovi still lives....who said life is fair.
Juice Newton died????
Someone please tell Juice Newton that she's dead. She'll be performing next month in Alto, NM.
Other than dropping the ball on the apparently alive and well Juice Newton, your whole post cracked me up.
Forgot Dennis and Carl Wilson (Beach Boys).
Unfortunately, one you forgot was Richard Wright of Pink Floyd, gone due to cancer. I thought it was so cool that even after all the bad blood in Pink Floyd that he and David Gilmour got back together and made some really great music together.
It saddens me that through they’re still alive, I’ll never see many of my favorites again, simply because they’re no longer able to put up with the rigors of touring. I’ll never be able to see King Crimson with Bill Bruford, or see the “classic” lineup of Yes again. In fact, the last concert I went to was Yes, but Jon Anderson and Rick Wakeman weren’t on tour. They had the lead vocalist from the Yes tribute band in Canada, and Oliver Wakeman on Keyboards, but it really wasn’t the same.

I can’t believe no one’s mentioned Ronnie Van Zant.
