I agree. Occasionally, I see what appear to be thinly veiled defenses of his behaviour, especially in Hard Times, and also hinted at in David Copperfield.

I’m looking forward to reading Claire Tomlin’s (sp?) new bio on him. I keep seeing it in Barnes & Noble and would love to buy it.
